Air Beds: Why Pay Twice as Much as You Should?

Filed under: Air Bed — Tags: Air Bed, air bed review, air beds — angefantasyfit @ 8:29 pm

Time for a new mattress?  Want to find a comfortable mattress that lasts?  Maybe you are thinking about an air bed.  “Leading brand’s” commercials sure sound good, but who wants to pay thousands for a quality air bed?  Don’t worry… You can get a high-end air bed for about half the price of “leading brand’s” low-end best seller.  Here’s how:

You know who “leading brand” air bed is, right?  Of course you do!  Why is that?  You know who “leading brand” air bed is because they spend millions of dollars each year so you will know who they are.  It’s called name recognition and guess who pays for it? You do!  The consumer pays for “leading brand” to spend millions making themselves a household name.  So how do you get a quality air bed without paying “leading brand” prices?

At Habitat Furnishings, we spent two years designing our extremely comfortable, high quality air beds.  These beds are specially crafted to be extremely comfortable and half the price of “leading brand’s” best seller.  Afraid you won’t like our air beds?  We want to make sure you do.  That’s why we offer a full 180 days for you to try our air bed in your own home.  If you don’t like it, you can return it and get your money back.  “Leading brand” only gives you 30 days to try their air beds.  What’s up with that?!

Air Beds: Try One for an Extended Period in Your Own Home

Filed under: Air Bed, Customer Satisfaction — Tags: Air Bed, air bed review, air beds — angefantasyfit @ 7:10 pm

Is it time for a new mattress?  Tired of tossing and turning to get comfortable?  Tired of sleeping in that crater in the middle of your old inner spring mattress?  Perhaps you’re interested in air bed but you’re afraid you may not like it.  What happens then?  How do you know if an air bed is right for you?

The best way to find out if an air bed is right for you is to try one for an extended period in your own home.  We recommend at least 180 days.  “Leading brand” air bed only gives you 30 days to try your air bed in your own home.  We do not feel this is an adequate amount of time to know if any type of mattress is right for you, let alone an air bed, which is usually a new experience for most people.  If you don’t like your new air bed, you need to be able to return it and get your money back.  Do not buy from a retailer that only offers store credit or a “comfort” guarantee (same thing as a store credit).

At Habitat Furnishings, we allow you to try our two high quality air beds in your own home for 180 days.  If our air bed doesn’t work for you, you can return it and get your money back.

All Natural Latex Mattresses: Find Your Perfect Natural Latex Mattress

Tire of tossing and turning?  Time for a new mattress?  Ready to try something more comfortable than your old inner spring mattress?  Perhaps you are thinking about an all natural latex mattress?  How can you find the all natural latex mattress that is right for you?

A 100% all natural latex mattress is extremely comfortable.  It’s also antimicrobial, resists mold and mildew, and is dust mite free.  It is free of any chemicals or synthetic fillers.  But beware of the imitators — up to 80% of latex mattresses being sold today are not all natural, but are made synthetically using petrochemicals.  Although they claim to be just like all natural latex mattresses, but cheaper, they are not.  Steer clear of any latex mattress that is not 100% botanically derived.

How do you find the all natural latex mattress that is right for you?  The only way to do this is to try it in your own home for an extended period.  We recommend 180 days or more.  If you don’t like it, you need to be able to return it and get your money back.  Do not accept a store credit or comfort guarantee (same thing as a store credit).  These can leave you out a lot of money and still without a mattress that you love.

At Habitat Furnishings, we are the web’s specialty bedding experts.  We offer detailed mattress information on our site.  Check out our air beds and our all natural latex mattresses.

Natural Latex Mattresses and Shopping for Great Sleep

Filed under: Air Bed, Latex Mattress, Natural Latex Mattresses — angefantasyfit @ 5:48 pm

Is it time for a new mattress?  Are you tossing and turning?  Is your old innerspring mattress past its useful life (about 10 years)?  Then maybe it’s time to take a look at an all natural latex mattress.

The article Mattress Retail and the Shop for Sleep makes some very good points about the red flags you should look for when shopping at bricks and mortar mattress stores and mattress outlets.  One thing the author doesn’t address, however, is how you can shop for a great natural latex mattress (or any mattress) online.

Online mattress retailers have low overheads and small advertising budgets.  This means they can pass their savings onto you and you can get a great mattress for a lot less than you would at a traditional mattress store.

When buying a natural latex mattress online, there are three rules you need to follow:

1.  Only buy from online mattress retailers that are monitored by third parties like Shopping.com or the Better Business Bureau.

2.  Only buy from an online mattress retailer that will allow you to try your natural latex mattress for an extended period (at least 180 days) in your own home.

3.  Only buy from an online mattress retailer that gives a money-back guarantee.  Do not accept a store credit or “comfort” guarantee (slick way of saying you are getting a store credit).

Follow these three rules and you should have a great online shopping experience.  To learn more about all natural latex mattresses and air beds, check out Habitat Furnishings, the web’s specialty bedding experts.

Air Beds: Why Pay Too Much? There is More Than One Air Bed Manfacturer!

Filed under: Air Bed, Customer Satisfaction — Tags: Air Bed, air bed review, air beds — angefantasyfit @ 2:21 pm

Perhaps you were interested in an air bed, but checked out “leading brand” and thought they were way overpriced.  (They are.)  You know the one I’m talking about… The one with the big budget advertising and the number settings it claims magically improve your sleep.  See… You do know who I’m talking about.  That’s because they spend tens of millions every year so you will know who they are.  Does that mean you have to buy your air bed from “leading brand?”  Absolutely not!  In fact, you can get a quality top-of-the-line air bed at about half the price of “leading brand’s” biggest selling basic model.

The article Mattresses – How Many Kinds Are There? is what got me thinking about this.  Air beds weren’t even mentioned in the article (and even water beds were mentioned!) and I wondered to myself, is this because no one thinks of any other type of air bed beyond “leading brand?”

At Habitat Furnishings we spent two years designing our two quality air beds, the Habitat Arise Air Bed and the Habitat Ascend Air Bed.  They are extremely comfortable and you can try them for 180 days in your own home and get your money back if you aren’t happy.  They’ve received rave reviews and are about half the cost of “leading brand.”  Check them out at Habitat Furnishings.

Air Beds and Natural Latex Mattresses: Should You Choose to Buy Online?

Are you thinking of buying a new mattress?  Air beds and all natural latex mattresses are two of the fastest growing products in the mattress industry.  Should you choose to buy a mattress online?  What are the benefits or risks?

Any purchase can be risky if you don’t do your homework.  An online purchase is no different.  The article Should You Choose Online Shopping? has some general tips about shopping online, but most of them are too rudimentary to be very helpful.  Here are a few tips I can offer about purchasing an air bed or natural latex mattress (or any mattress) online.

Only buy from mattress retailers that are monitored by third parties like Shopping.com and the Better Business Bureau.

Only buy from a mattress retailer that will let you try your air bed or natural latex mattress for at least 180 days in your home and will let you return it if it doesn’t work for you.

Only buy from a mattress retailer that gives you a true money-back guarantee.  Do not accept a store credit or “comfort” guarantee, which is the same thing as a store credit.

At Habitat Furnishings, we are the web’s specialty bedding experts.  To learn more about affordable quality air beds and natural latex mattresses, check out our site.

All Natural Latex Mattresses: What in the World is a Comfort Guarantee?

Are you looking to buy an all natural latex mattress?  Are you thinking about buying any type of new mattress?  The jargon can be confusing and, the reality is, it’s meant to be confusing.  What about all the different types of return policies and guarantees?  What is the difference between a store credit, a comfort guarantee, and a money-back guarantee anyway?  Here’s the scoop…

A money-back guarantee means that if you don’t like your latex mattress when you get it home, you can return it and get your money back so you can shop somewhere else.  You may have to pay a small return fee (look for $75 or less), but that cost is minimal compared to getting stuck with a mattress you don’t want and being unable to get your money back.  Read the fine print and watch out for restocking fees and other fees that cut into your return.  Look for an in-home trial period of at least 180 days to make sure you really like your mattress.

A store credit means that if you don’t like the mattress you chose, you can return it but you have to use the money you spent towards a purchase of a different mattress in the store.  You cannot get your money back and go somewhere else.  Since you already picked the mattress you liked the best and may not be able to find another mattress you like at this same store, this can leave you stuck with a mattress you don’t like and/or out a whole lot of money.  Steer clear of store credits.

A “comfort” guarantee is just a slick way of saying you are getting a store credit.  See the definition of store credit and steer clear from comfort guarantees.

Bottom line:  Only buy your all natural latex mattress from a retailer that lets you try it at least 180 days in your own home and gives you a money-back guarantee on your purchase.

At Habitat Furnishings, we specialize in air beds and all natural latex mattresses.  We offer money-back guarantees and 180 day in-home trials on all our mattresses and beds.

Natural Latex Mattresses: How to Find a Reliable Latex Mattress Review Site

Are you thinking about buying a natural latex mattress?  Perhaps you have been reading latex mattress review sites.  How do you know if these are legitimate or if they are actually just sites created by latex manufacturers or retailers for their particular mattress or store?  It can be hard to tell.  That’s why it’s important to do a little homework and only shop at mattress retailers that are monitored by unbiased third parties.

The article Finding A Trustworthy Memory Foam Mattress Review points out the you will never find a negative review on a company’s own web site.  This is true, of course.  That is why you should only shop for a natural latex mattress (or any mattress) from a retailer that is monitored by an unbiased third party like Shopping.com or the Better Business Bureau (BBB).  With Shopping.com what the customer writes is what you get to see – whether it is positive or negative.  The retailer can’t pick and choose what you see like it can on its own website or literature.  The BBB is also uncensored by the retailer and gives each retailer a letter grade based on its performance and any complaints that are filed.  Look for a retailer with an A+ or A rating with the BBB.

Habitat Furnishings offers both all natural latex mattresses and air beds.  We are happy to share our customer reviews with you through unbiased third parties and have a perfect 5-Star rating with Shopping.com and an A+ rating with the BBB.

Air Beds: Why Online Deals are Changing the Way We Shop for Them

Filed under: Air Bed, Customer Satisfaction — Tags: Air Bed, air beds — angefantasyfit @ 4:28 pm

I came across an article entitled Why Online Shopping Deals Are Facilitating the Way We Purchase Stuff and it reminded me of why it is so great to purchase an air bed online.  Shopping online is a great way to purchase any new bed or mattress.

When you shop for an air bed online, you can save money since online retailers have low overhead and do not spend millions in advertising like that “leading brand” with the arbitrary “comfort” numbers.  Before you purchase an air bed online, do a little homework.  Make sure the online retailer has been in business at least 7 years and is monitored by unbiased third parties like Shopping.com and the Better Business Bureau (BBB).  Only buy from the retailer if they have an A or A+ rating from the BBB.

To make sure the air bed you buy is right for you, make sure you get to try it in your own home for at least 180 days.  Only buy from mattress retailers that give you a true money-back guarantee, not a store credit or “comfort” guarantee, which is the same thing as a store credit.  Without a money-back guarantee, you could be out a lot of money and still not have a mattress that is right for you.

All Natural Latex Mattresses: Love the Benefits of All Natural Latex!

All natural latex mattresses are nature’s gift to sleep.  An all natural latex mattress is 100% botanically derived and extremely comfortable.  It is antimicrobial, dust mite free, and resists mold and mildew.  It’s ideal for those with allergies, asthma, or those who simply want to sleep without allergens and chemicals.

A truly 100% natural latex mattress is extremely durable (look for a 20 year warranty) and can last 20 – 30 years or more.  Once you are ready for a new one, it’s 100% recyclable!

Beware the “pretenders” though.  The Benefits of Natural Latex Mattresses correctly points out that many (in fact, up to 80%) of latex mattresses sold today are not all natural, but are made synthetically using petrochemicals.  Although the makers and sellers of these synthetic latex mattresses will tell you that they are just as good as all natural latex mattresses, it’s simply not true.  These synthetic latex mattresses do not have the benefits of all natural latex, have a tendency to develop dips and sags, and do not last nearly as long as all natural latex mattresses.

We are the web’s specialty bedding experts.  To learn everything you need to know before purchasing an air bed or all natural latex mattress, go to Habitat Furnishings.

All Natural Latex Mattesses: Stop Waiting for Store Sales and Shop Online

Are you looking for an all natural latex mattress?  Maybe you want to buy a natural latex mattress, but you’re waiting for your local mattress retailer to have a sale.  Why wait for a mattress store to mark down its overpriced inventory when it will still be overpriced?  The article Mattress Sales – Find the Best Deals suggests waiting for mattress stores to have sales, but you can get a great natural latex mattress at a great price by shopping online.

Online natural latex mattress retailers can offer great prices on latex mattresses due to their low overhead and small advertising costs.  Big mattress retailers spend millions every year on advertising and pass those costs onto you.

When buying a natural latex mattress online, here are three rules to remember:

1.  Only buy from an online latex mattress retailer that has been in business at least 7 years and is monitored by third party organizations like Shopping.com and the Better Business Bureau.

2.  Only buy from an online natural latex mattress retailer that lets you try your latex mattress in your own home for at least 180 days.

3.  Only buy from a mattress retailer that gives you a true money-back guarantee.  Do not accept a store credit or “comfort” guarantee (same thing as a store credit).  You may have to pay a small return fee, but this is a minor expense compared to losing a lot of money and still not having a mattress that you like.

A Natural Latex Mattress: Is a Natural Latex Mattress Right for You?

All natural latex mattresses are becoming more and more popular as people learn about their comfort, benefits, and durability.  I came across a shopping and products blog with a question entitled Tempurpedic, or not? where many people suggested the comfort and durability of an all natural latex mattress.  That being said, there were a lot of people with other suggestions too.  What’s the best way to find out if an all natural latex is right for you?  Here’s how…

The only way to find out if an all natural latex mattress is right for you is to try it in your own home for at least 180 days.  You also need to have a money-back guarantee so you can get your money back if the natural latex mattress is right for you.  Don’t fall for a store credit or a “comfort” guarantee (same thing as a store credit).  If you do, you could be out a lot of money and still not have a mattress that’s right for you.

All natural latex mattresses are antimicrobial, dust mite free, and resist mold and mildew.  They are very durable (look for a 20 year warranty) and can last 20 – 30 years or more.

At Habitat Furnishings, we are the web’s specialty bedding experts.  Check out our site to learn everything you need to know about natural latex mattresses and air beds.

All Natural Latex Mattresses: The One Important Thing You Need to Know

As all natural latex mattresses become more and more popular, many mattress retailers are eager to jump on the natural latex bandwagon.  Unfortunately, much of what is being called “natural” isn’t.

Up to 80% of all latex mattresses being sold today are not all natural, but are actually made synthetically using petrochemicals.  Companies use the word “natural” because there is some natural latex in the product, but these latex mattresses are far from all natural.  The article Latex Mattress FAQs incorrectly states that “There are already hardly any plus points of going for all natural latex over synthetic.”  This statement is about as far from the truth as possible.  Synthetic latex mattresses are made using petrochemicals, do not have the qualities all natural latex is sought after for, do not last nearly as long as all natural latex mattresses, and have a tendency to develop lump, sags, and dips.  Although the initial cost of an all natural latex mattress may be a bit more than a synthetic latex mattress, its durability (lasts 20 – 30 years or more) make it a more cost effective choice in the long haul than a synthetic latex mattress.

At Habitat Furnishings, we are the web’s specialty bedding experts.  We want you to learn as much as possible before you choose an all natural latex mattress (or any specialty mattress).  Check out our comprehensive info on air beds and all natural latex mattresses.

Air Beds and Natural Latex Mattresses: Buy Online With Confidence

When looking for a new air bed or natural latex mattress, many people who would like to buy online are afraid — afraid they won’t like what they buy, afraid of getting scammed or ripped off, just plain afraid of the whole process.  Here are a few tips to make the process safe and easy.

The title of the article Tips for Buying Mattress Sets Online prompted me to write about this topic, but I didn’t really think the article was detailed enough to help people.  Here are my three tips for buying an air bed or natural latex mattress (or any mattress) online.

1.  Only buy from online retailers that are monitored by unbiased third party organizations like Shopping.com or the Better Business Bureau (BBB).  Make sure the customers are satisfied and look for an A or A+ rating from the BBB.  Look for an online retailer that has been in business for at least 10 years and can be verified as such.

2.  Only buy from an online retailer that will let you try your mattress for an extended period in your own home.  Don’t go for less than 180 days.

3.  Only buy from an online retailer that will give you a true money-back guarantee if the mattress doesn’t work for you.  DO NOT accept a store credit or “comfort” guarantee (same thing as a store credit).  You may have to pay a small return shipping fee (look for $75 or less) but this is minimal compared to what you could lose with a store credit.

Following just these three tips will make your online mattress shopping experience safe and pain-free.  At Habitat Furnishings, we want you to be as informed about your mattress choices as possible.  Check out our information on our air beds and our all natural latex mattresses.

The Air Bed Deconstructed: How an Air Bed is Really Made

Filed under: Air Bed — Tags: Air Bed, air beds — angefantasyfit @ 8:06 am

We are amazed a how much “leading brand” charges for their overpriced air bed.  It’s unbelievable what an expensive advertising campaign and a few “magic” numbers do to make people think they should pay twice as much as they need to for a quality air bed.  “Leading brand” spends about 40 million dollars a year on marketing and advertising and passes on those cost to you, the consumer.

We’ve been in the specialty bedding business for over 15 years and spent the last two years developing our own air beds, the Arise and Ascend Air Beds Systems, to give you a better quality air bed than “leading brand” at half the price of their lower end best seller.

So how is an air bed constructed anyway?  An air bed is quite simple really – just 5 basic ingredients.  You have the the air bladder, a pump, some foam rails around the air bladder to help support it and provide shape, the outer quilted top, and a remote control.  We don’t think an air bed needs to be overpriced and overrated and we are happy to be able to bring our quality air bed to you for half the priced of “leading brand.”

We are so confident that you will love one of our air beds that we give you 180 days to try it in your own home.  If you don’t like it, you can get your money back.  All we ask is that you pay $75 (subtracted from your refund) to help defray the return shipping costs.  We ship it to you for free!  To learn more about our quality air beds and natural latex mattresses, check out Habitat Furnishings.

Choosing an All Natural Latex Mattress

As I read articles about all natural latex mattresses (or any mattress for that matter), I am amazed at how many of the “experts” suggest that you lie down on the mattress in the showroom to make your decision.  If you slept in a warm, crowded showroom for 10 minutes at a time, this would be a good suggestion.  My question is — Who sleeps like that?

The article Choose your new mattress with yourself in mind suggests not to be afraid to try a new mattress in the showroom.  I’m sorry, but I have to disagree with that.  The only way to find out if an all natural latex mattress (or any mattress) is right for you is to try it for an extended period (at least 180 days) in your own home.  If you don’t like it, you should be able to return it and get your money back.  A retailer may charge you a return fee (look for $75 or less) to help defray shipping costs, but that’s minimal compared to the money you could be out if you get stuck with a mattress that you don’t like.

An important note:  Be sure to read the fine print and don’t go for a store credit or comfort guarantee.  These both mean that if a mattress doesn’t work for you that you don’t get your money back but have to choose a different mattress from the same store.  I have seen many people lose a lot of money and still not get the mattress they want with one of these bad options.

At Habitat Furnishings, we want you to be as informed about your mattress options as possible.  To learn everything you need to know about all natural latex mattresses and air beds, check out our site.

A Quality Natural Latex Mattress: You Don’t Have to Spend $5000 to Buy One

I came across someone asking a question about how long a latex mattress should last and they were getting ready to pay close to $5000 for it!  I can’t imagine thinking about spending that kind of money without even knowing how long something would last!  I provided what information I could and wished the person luck.

A quality all natural latex mattress should come with a 20 year warranty and last 20 – 30 years.  They are not only comfortable, but durable and long lasting too.  I hope the person who wrote “I am considering buying a latex mattress, costing close to $5000 for a king size…” does a bit more research before making that purchase. How long is the latex mattress going to last?  How long is the warranty?  Is it an all natural latex mattress?  (Unfortunately up to 80% of all latex mattresses being offered as “natural” are made synthetically using petrochemicals.)

Before buying a natural latex mattress, do some research and ask questions.  Ask if the natural latex mattress is truly 100% natural, or if there are any petrochemicals used.  If the answer you get is vague or the salesperson tries to redirect you to something else, then the latex mattress you are looking at is not likely to be a truly 100% all natural latex mattress.

At Habitat Furnishings, we want you to be as informed about your mattress choices as possible.  Check out our guides to air beds and natural latex mattresses to learn everything you need to know about your specialty mattress purchase.

All Natural Latex Mattresses for All Natural Comfort

Many people are trying to remove irritants and potentially harmful chemicals from their daily lives.  One of the best places to do this is with something you spend one-third of your life on — your mattress.  A 100% all natural latex mattress is absolutely all natural with no chemicals added.  It’s a great way to remove chemicals and allergens from your life.

A true 100% all natural botanically derived latex mattress is dust mite free, antimicrobial and resists mold and mildew.  It contains nothing but what nature has produced.  Alas, up to 80% of the latex mattresses produced today are not all natural.  These “pretenders” claim to be “natural” because they contain some natural latex, but they are actually made synthetically using petrochemicals.  Do not be fooled by synthetic latex mattresses.  Ask if the natural latex mattress you are looking at 100% natural and chemical free.  If it isn’t, don’t buy it.

To learn the differences between all natural latex mattresses and those that are made synthetically using petrochemicals, check out our latex mattress page.  It is comprehensive and will answer all of your latex mattress questions.  We also have detailed information on our air bed page.  We are Habitat Furnishings – the web’s specialty bedding experts.

A Natural Latex Mattress… Better Than a Memory Foam Mattress?

One question we see and hear frequently is, “Which is better, a natural latex mattress or a memory foam mattress?”  Although it would nice to have a definitive answer for this question, it depends on your personal preference and what you want and need.  You wouldn’t want someone else to pick the car that is right for you, would you?  Sure, you want to make sure it is safe, reliable, and durable, but after that, what you want and need may be very different than what someone else wants or needs.

The article Latex Mattress Or Memory Foam Mattress – Which is Better? seems to seek to answer the memory foam versus latex mattress question but it really cannot.  Each are excellent mattresses and each have different benefits (besides outstanding comfort) to offer.  So what’s the best way to know which is the best mattress for you?

The best way to know if a mattress is right for you is to sleep on it for an extended period (at least 180 days) in your own home.  If you don’t like it, you want to be able to return it for a nominal fee and get your money back.  Don’t fall for a store credit or “comfort” guarantee, which is the same thing as a store credit. If you don’t like the mattress, you’d have to pick another one at the same store.  This mean you may be out lots of money and still not have a mattress that works for you.

Habitat Furnishings is the web’s specialty bedding experts.  We want you to be as informed about your mattress options as possible.  To learn more, check out our air bed and all natural latex mattress pages.

An Air Bed or Latex Mattress Can Eliminate Body Soreness

I came across a blog about someone’s mattress causing them to feel sore in the morning and it immediately reminded me of my own situation a few years back.  My husband and I were both having back pain (I was pregnant) and were sleeping on my approximately 15 year-old traditional spring mattress.  We got rid of the old spring mattress and BINGO!  No more back pain for either of us, even the huge pregnant lady!

Mattress Causing Body Soreness? reminded me of our former plight.  So many people have body soreness or back pain for no other reason than their mattress needs to be replaced with a new, more comfortable mattress.  We spend approximately one-third of our lives in bed, so why are so many of us stubbornly hanging onto old beds or buying cheap ones to save money?  As I admitted, I was guilty of this in the past, but I will never be guilty of it again!  We spend way more time on our mattresses than on our sofas or in front of our TVs, so it’s time to start treating our mattress purchases with the seriousness, thought, and money they deserve.

We are Habitat Furnishings – the web’s specialty bedding experts.  We want you to be as educated as possible when it comes to purchasing a mattress.  Check out our air bed and all natural latex mattress info.

Choosing a Good Latex Mattress

Everyone looking for a latex mattress would like to choose a good one, but how do you go about this?  There are a few things you need to look out for, especially in determining if a natural latex mattress is truly a 100% natural latex mattress.

The Problem of Choosing a Good Latex Mattress barely touches on the subject of all natural versus synthetic latex mattresses.  I am going to elaborate, since it is really one of the most important things to look at when choosing a natural latex mattress.

A truly all natural latex mattress is 100% natural and made botanically without any chemicals.  Unfortunately, up to 80% of latex mattresses being sold today are not all natural.  They are instead synthetically made with petrochemicals and use the word “natural” in hopes that consumers will not question whether or not a latex mattress is truly 100% natural.

A true natural latex mattress is antimicrobial, dust mite free, and resists mold and mildew.  It’s also very durable, coming with a 20 year warranty and lasting 20 -30 years or more.  Once you are ready for a new one, it’s completely recyclable!  On the other hand, a latex mattress that is made synthetically doesn’t offer these benefits and doesn’t last nearly as long.  A synthetic latex mattress has a tendency to develop lumps, bumps, and sags.

At Habitat Furnishings, we are the web’s specialty bedding experts, offering air beds and all natural latex mattresses.  To learn everything you need to know about purchasing an air bed or latex mattress, check out our site.

The Natural Latex Mattress and the Importance of a True Money-Back Guarantee

Looking for a natural latex mattress or any type of new mattress?  Afraid to try something new?  Afraid you might make the wrong decision and be stuck with something you don’t want?  These are all valid concerns and the reasons you should only buy a mattress from a company that offers you an at home trial for an extended period (180 days or more) and offers a true money-back guarantee if the mattress doesn’t work for you.

Most mattress companies offer a store credit or “comfort” guarantee for their customers.  A “comfort” guarantee is just a tricky way of saying you are getting a store credit.  With both of these options (if you can call them “options”) if you do not like the mattress you purchase you can return it, but you have to pick another mattress from that store.  If they don’t have anything you like, you could be out hundreds of dollars and still not have a mattress that works for you.

Bottom line:  Before you purchase any mattress, make sure you can try it in your own home for at least 180 days and get your money back if it isn’t right for you.  Read the fine print and don’t be fooled by fancy ways of saying you are getting a store credit.

At Habitat Furnishings, we allow you to try your natural latex mattress or air bed for a full 180 days in your own home.  If you don’t like it, you can return it and get your money back.  All we ask is that you pay $75 (subtracted from your refund) to help with the return shipping costs.  We ship it to you for free!  To learn more, check out Habitat Furnishings.

The Natural Latex Mattress or the Memory Foam Mattress: Which is Best?

Once again the age old question of which is best – a memory foam mattress or a natural latex mattress – is being asked.  The problem with that question is that the only thing that really matters is what is best for YOU!  In the article, Memory Foam Mattress vs Latex Mattress – Which is Best?, the author attempts to answer a question that can’t really be answered.  It’s like the “Ginger or MaryAnne” question… Both are great, but personal preference determines what is best for you.

A truly natural latex mattress is comfortable, but so is a memory foam mattress.  Both can provide comfortable sleep, but the only way to find out which is right for you is to sleep on your new mattress for at least 180 days in your own home.  If you don’t like it, you should be able to return it and get your money back.  Don’t fall for a store credit or “comfort” guarantee (tricky way of saying you are getting a store credit).  This means that if you don’t like your new mattress, you will have to buy your mattress at that particular store or lose all your money.  A real money-back guarantee means you can go to another store to find a mattress if the one you purchased doesn’t work for you.

At Habitat Furnishings we are the web’s specialty bedding experts. We want to help you select the mattress that is right for you.  Check out our detailed information on air beds and natural latex mattresses.

Air Beds and Latex Mattresses: Choosing Where to Buy Them Online

So you’re looking for a new mattress, maybe a specialty bed like a latex mattress or an air bed.  You hear that you can get some good deals online, but how do you choose a good online retailer?  Tips on Choosing Online Shopping Websites offers some advice on choosing an online shopping web site, but most of the information is so basic that it is simply common sense.  (Don’t shop a site where one price is listed and then another price appears when you click, for example.)

When is comes to buying specialty bedding, like an air bed or natural latex mattress, here are a few suggestions.  These suggestions are for mattress retailers, but some of them are great for any online shopping experience.

1.  Buy from a site that has information collected about it from a third party like Shopping.com or the Better Business Bureau.  A site can’t make up its own customer comments or satisfaction ratings this way.

2.  Shop at retailers who clearly spell out their return policy and guarantees.  In the case of buying a mattress, look for an in-home trial of at least 180 days and a true money-back guarantee (not a store credit or “comfort” guarantee, which is a tricky way of saying you have a store credit).  You need to be able to try your mattress at home for an extended period.

3.  Shop at retailers that are secure.  Services like McAfee Secure regularly test sites.  Make sure all your information, including credit card numbers, will be encrypted.  Check the site’s privacy and security policies.

4.  See how long and company has been in business and operating under its current name.  Name changes or a short time on the web can send up red flags.

You can make a great air bed or natural latex mattress purchase on the web.  Just make sure you do your homework first so you know you are dealing with a reputable company.  To learn more about Habitat Furnishings air beds or latex mattresses, check out our site.

Your Air Bed Purchase: The Importance of a True Money-Back Guarantee

You spend more than a third of your life in bed.  You spend way more time on your bed than on your sofa or any other piece of furniture.  Your mattress is one of the most important household purchases, so how can your make sure you are making the right choice?  Here’s how:

When choosing your air bed, or any other bed or mattress, it’s important to make sure you buy from a retailer with a true money-back guarantee, not a store credit or comfort guarantee, which is just a tricky way of saying store credit.  A comfort guarantee or store credit means that if you don’t like the mattress or bed you choose that you have to pick a different mattress from the same store.  You don’t ever get your money back.  Since most stores may only have one or two mattresses that you like, if you can’t find something you want at that particular store, you are out of luck and out of a lot of money.

Make sure you buy your mattress or air bed from a retailer that offers you a true money-back guarantee and at least 180 days to try your mattress in your own home.  This means that if you don’t like your mattress, you can return it and get your money back.  Some retailers may charge a return fee to recoup their shipping costs, but this is a minimal cost compared to keeping a mattress you don’t like or losing a lot of money.

At Habitat Furnishings, the web’s specialty bedding experts offering air beds and latex mattresses, we offer you 180 days to try your bed in your own home and, if you don’t like it, we’ll give you your money back.  Don’t take our word for it.  Check out our perfect 5-Star Rating on Shopping.com.

Try an Air Bed for Better Sleep

Filed under: Air Bed — Tags: Air Bed, air beds — angefantasyfit @ 5:16 pm

Want to sleep better?  In the article entitled How to Sleep Better – Try an Air Bed, Mark S. Myers points out the many qualities that make an air bed a delightful sleeping experience.

When we talk about an air bed we aren’t talking about the old camping air mattress of days gone by.  Sure, those things are still out there, as are Aero Beds and other portable air mattresses, but for better sleep, the air bed as the primary bed is rapidly gaining popularity.

A quality air bed is comfortable for both you and your sleep partner because it will allow each person to adjust their own firmness.  Our Habitat Arise® and Habitat Ascend® air beds have vulcanized rubber bladders which are much more comfortable that the nylon or PVC bladders that are commonly found in air beds.  In addition to our plush comfort layers, the Habitat Ascend® is the only air bed on the planet to have a layer of natural latex.

Think trying an air bed is risky because you may not like it once you get it home?  With Habitat Furnishings trying an air bed is risk-free.  That’s because we offer a 180 day money-back guarantee on both of our air beds.  That’s a true money-back guarantee, not a “comfort” guarantee (a tricky way of staying store credit) or store credit.  To learn more about our quality air beds, go to Habitat Furnishings.

An Air Bed: A Great Choice for Comfort

Filed under: Air Bed — Tags: Air Bed, air beds — angefantasyfit @ 4:39 pm

In the blog The Adjustable Air Bed Mattress. A good choice in Beds?, the unnamed writer states that most people are afraid to trust in what is relatively new (air beds versus the traditional bed) with just a short test at a store.  I have to agree with that since most air bed retailers won’t give you your money back if you don’t like your new air bed.

The good news is that buying an air bed doesn’t have to be risky.  In fact, at Habitat Furnishings, buying an air bed is absolutely risk-free.  We give you a full 180 days to try your new air bed at home.  If you don’t like it, we’ll give you your money back.  And we are talking about a true money-back guarantee here – not a “comfort” guarantee or store credit.  (FYI – A “comfort” guarantee is a store credit!  Don’t be fooled by that one!)

If you are intimidated by trying something great (an air bed) because it is relatively new and you think it would be too risky – Fear no more!  An air bed is extremely comfortable and our air bed is about half the price of the “leading brand’s” top of the line model.  In fact, our quality air bed is just a little bit more than the “leading brand’s” basic model, but with many more features!  To learn more about how you can try a new air bed risk-free, go to Habitat Furnishings.

Air Bed Review Sites: Whom Do You Trust?

Filed under: Air Bed — Tags: Air Bed, air bed review, air beds — angefantasyfit @ 4:15 pm

So you’re ready to shop for an air bed and you want to do your homework.  Where do you go for information about air beds?  What air bed reviews can you trust?

It’s true that on the web anyone can write anything they want about anything at all.  Many air bed and mattress review sites are actually owned by retailers or manufacturers that want to steer you to their site.  Many review sites are written by people who want to make advertising money and know absolutely nothing about the product.  So whom can you count on?

The answer is that you can count on well-known third party review sites like Shopping.com.  A retail air bed website will only post positive reviews on their site.  On a site like Shopping.com the retailer cannot alter, censor or change the reviews in any way.  What the shopper writes is what you see… Without any interference from the retailer.

At Habitat Furnishings, we are proud of our perfect five-star rating on Shopping.com.  We pride ourselves on offering two quality air beds on our site, the Habitat Arise® Air Bed and the Habitat Ascend® Air Bed. We are also proud of our quality customer service. To make sure our customers are happy, we offer a complete 180-day money-back guarantee on all our beds.  That’s not a store credit or comfort guarantee, but an actual money-back guarantee.  To learn more go to Habitat Furnishings.

Coping with Low Back Pain

Filed under: Air Bed, Back Pain/Back Pain Relief, Latex Mattress, Natural Latex Mattresses — angefantasyfit @ 1:37 pm

I came across an article entitled Understanding and Coping With Low Back Pain by someone simply listed as “Shaun.”  According to the article an estimated 26 million Americans deal with frequent or chronic low back pain.

There are many different conditions that can cause low back pain.  Some of these things include normal wear and tear due to aging, injuries or trauma, or sometimes something as simple as incorrectly lifting a heavy object, like putting a heavy suitcase into the trunk of a car.  Low back pain can also be a sign of a problem such as arthritis, osteoporosis, or a herniated disc.

Lower back pain is not a condition that should be ignored. It is important to seek medical attention to find out the cause(s) and possible treatment(s) for your low back pain.

Almost everyone experiences low back pain at some point.  The important thing to do is to make sure sure the problem doesn’t become chronic or reoccurring.

According to the article, here are some things that your health care provider may suggest to help ease your low back pain:  (You can read the details about each by clicking on the above link.)

Rest – But only for a short time.

Medication – This would be based on the type of pain and your medical history.

Exercise – Exercises that strengthen your back and abdominal muscles (core muscles) are helpful.

Massage Therapy – This can be used as part of a comprehensive plan and can be combined with physical therapy, acupuncture and medication.

Many people seek relief from their lower back pain by choosing a more comfortable mattress.  Although not cure-all for a back injury, a comfortable mattress can help relieve low back pain and even eliminate it if your mattress was the cause of your pain to begin with.  Two mattress that you should check out are an air bed and a 100% natural latex mattress.

Man Stays Awake for 11 Days

Filed under: Air Bed, Latex Mattress, Natural Latex Mattresses, Sleep and Health — angefantasyfit @ 11:22 am

When I saw the article entitled How can someone stay awake for 11 days? my first thought was – Why on Earth would someone want to stay awake that long?! The guy had to be nuts! (My opinion because I could never imagine even trying that.)

Apparently there used to be a category for this in the Guinness Book of World Records but the category is no longer acknowledged and was removed entirely in 1989 due to the fact that it is too dangerous.  A previous record acknowledged by the famous record book was 264 hours (exactly 11 days) set in 1964 by a 17-year-old American boy.  Some claim that the 1964 record was beaten by a Finnish man who went 276 hours without sleep and that the record was in the Guinness Book until the category was removed entirely in 1989.

How did Tony Wright, the English man who claims to be the new record holder, stay awake for over 11 days?  Who cares?!  The record doesn’t exist and going without sleep that long is extremely dangerous.  On the fifth day of Wright’s experiment he wrote in his blog that he saw “giggling dancing pixies and elves” in place of the text on his computer screen.  If that isn’t enough for someone to realize they are putting their brain and body in serious jeopardy, I don’t know what is!

Even small amounts of sleep deprivation are unhealthy and put a tremendous amount of strain on the body and brain.  Sleepy drivers are a dangerous threat on our roads and sleepy workers are less productive than rested ones.  In order to stay happy and healthy, people need to get enough proper sleep.  One way to improve your sleep is by making sure you are sleeping on a comfortable bed.  Two specialty beds that are rapidly gaining popularity for their comfort are the air bed and the natural latex mattress.  Check them out to see how you can sleep more easily.

Your Sofa Choice and Back Pain

Filed under: Air Bed, Back Pain/Back Pain Relief, Latex Mattress, Natural Latex Mattresses — angefantasyfit @ 7:46 pm

According to the blog posted on Earth Times by “dpa,” Poor sofa choice can lead to back pain.  Last year I helped a friend shop for a new sofa and can appreciate what an important choice this is.  The article states that a combination of poorly designed chairs and lack of activity can lead to back pain.  (This is according to a spinal health association in Germany, AGR.)

According to AGR, people who spend long hours in front of a TV or monitor are candidates for back problems.  I can personally attest to this.  Although lack of activity is not an issue for me, I am currently shopping for a well-designed chair that will be more comfortable when I am working in front of the computer.

AGR says that seats need to align with a person’s upper thigh and that the height of the seat should be adjustable.  The seat should also be wide enough and the back needs to be adjustable and up to shoulder height.  Built-in back lumbar support is helpful too.  (That is what I am looking for in an office chair.)

The above advice may work for an office chair, but what about a sofa, which usually serves people of varying sizes?  My advice – Get off the sofa and get moving!

Another way to help with back pain is by choosing the right mattress.  Everyone spends much more time in bed than on a sofa or in an office chair.  Two very comfortable mattresses to check out are the 100% natural latex mattress and the air bed.

Lifting Properly to Avoid Back Pain During the Holidays

Filed under: Air Bed, Back Pain/Back Pain Relief, Latex Mattress, Natural Latex Mattresses — angefantasyfit @ 12:09 pm

The article Christmas turkeys are a pain in the ‘back’, literally gave me a chuckle but also spurred me to write about lifting properly to avoid back pain.  At one time or another, most people are guilty of lifting heavy items improperly.

This article, which is out of London, states that the British College of Osteopathic Medicine reports more back injuries after Christmas than any other time.  The BCOM claims that failing to bend the knees properly when lower the turkey into the oven can pull muscles in the back and lead to strained ligaments.  They also suggest that carrying too many heavy shopping bags also can lead to “turkey back.”

Dr. Ian Drysdale is quoted as saying, “When you’re lifting the turkey out of the oven, bend your knees and keep your back straight.  Don’t stoop or twist and you’ll avoid unnecessary pulled muscles.”  When it comes to shopping, Dr. Drysdale says, “When it comes to shopping sprees, make sure you avoid carrying all your bags in one hand – try and distribute the weight as evenly as you can.”

I think there are other factors that contribute to back pain this time of year.  They include shoveling snow, cutting down or carrying Christmas trees, reaching and over stretching to decorate trees, pulling decorations out of the attic, hanging lights, putting items together, and tossing your young relatives into the air during family visits.

One way to help ease your back pain is by sleeping on a comfortable mattress.  Two comfortable specialty beds you should look into are the air bed and the latex mattress.

Beating Insomnia

Filed under: Air Bed, Latex Mattress, Natural Latex Mattresses, Sleeping Tips — angefantasyfit @ 8:58 pm

Beating Insomnia:  5 tips for finding that elusive shut-eye offers practical tips for sleep without medications.  Some of these tips seem like common sense, but you’d be amazed at how many of us lose track of even the obvious sometimes.

The article offers the following tips to get some sleep.  You can read them in more detail by clicking on the above link.

1.  Eat Properly.  We aren’t just talking about eating right and skipping the caffeine here.  Avoid drinking alcohol, smoking a cigarette, or eating a late night snack.

2.  Exercise and Stay Active.  Do you think your great-grandfather who worked on his farm all day had trouble sleeping?  No way!  Part of our sleep problems today are caused by our sedentary lives.  Just don’t exercise right before you go to bed.  That can keep you awake.

3.  Keep Your Room Conducive to Sleep. Keep the room cool, dark, and quiet.  Ditch the TV, radio, and other distractions that can keep you awake.

4.  Take a Hot Shower or Bath.  This helps you relax and wind down.

5.  Clear Your Mind.  Easier said than done, but with practice you can learn to clear your mind and not take your active mind to bed with you.

Another thing that can help you relax and sleep well is to have a comfortable bed.  Two of the beds that are becoming more popular for their ability to induce comfortable sleep are the air bed and the natural latex mattressAir beds and latex mattresses do wonders for those who cannot get comfortable when they hit the sack.

Sleep Inducing Milk

Filed under: Air Bed, Sleep and Health — angefantasyfit @ 3:04 pm

Brian Yalung introduces us to sleep inducing milk in Sleep Inducing Milk Being Tested in Taiwan.  According to the article, New Image Group is currently working on a new sleep inducing milk for those who have trouble sleeping.

According to the article, the milk has high levels of peptides (or protein fractions), which are believed (who believes?) to help people sleep.  This sleep inducing milk could be on the market by the middle of 2010.

Are you kidding me?  There better be a lot of heavy duty research behind this before people start to drink altered milk to sleep better.  I’m sure you would seem to sleep much better if your milk contained narcotics or depressants too, but that doesn’t sound like a good idea either.

What sounds better than altered milk is a comfortable bed.  Why not check out our custom designed air bed before pouring something into your body that is probably best left in the lab?

Sleep Stages

Filed under: Air Bed, Latex Mattress, Natural Latex Mattresses, Sleep and Health — angefantasyfit @ 2:36 pm

The Bedzine.com article Stages of Sleep is written by “guest.”  It seems factual, but since there are no references cited, I would say it is pleasure reading rather than non-fiction.

My interest in the stages of sleep comes from being tested in a sleep lab when I was diagnosed with a sleep disorder.  I find it fascinating that by hooking a bunch of wires and sleep machines to you that researchers can actually tell how long it takes to get to each stage of sleep, what stage of sleep you are in, and how long you stay in each stage.  Having this type of ability has allowed researchers learn so much about how we sleep and how we should sleep.

In the end, it was determined that I get to deep sleep very quickly, but that I fall asleep abnormally too fast in the day.  The researcher said, “Ahhh, you sleep so well…”  Too bad it was 2 p.m.

One thing many people have learned is that in order to sleep well, you need to have a comfortable bed.  The latex mattress, or, more specifically, the natural latex mattress is becoming more and more popular as people understand the importance of good sleep to their health and well-being.  Another comfortable bed that you should look into to improve your sleep is a custom designed air bed.

Air Bed Luxury

Filed under: Air Bed, Air Mattress — angefantasyfit @ 11:46 am

In The Luxury of Air Bed Mattresses, the writer discusses his first encounter with an air bed, which he slept on while visiting his sister’s house.  I am quite familiar with these portable type air beds.

I have an Aero Bed that I travel with (my two boys and I can all sleep on it at anyone’s house), and a portable bed with legs that I have used in my guest bedroom.  That portable bed unfolds out of its own case with wheels, but it isn’t very portable.  The case is huge.  It is good for keeping in a large storage area in your house and pulling it out when you have guests, but it is way to big to travel with.  I used to leave mine out and made up in the guest room just like a regular bed.  It is now in storage and a “real” bed with an actual bed frame and mattress has taken its place.

The writer mentions these types of air beds, as well as the old camping air mattresses of yesteryear.  He also mentions air beds that are used as one’s primary bed.  These air beds have come a long way in recent years.  We are proud to be at the forefront of the air bed market and want to share everything we know about air beds with our site visitors.  To learn more and check out our custom designed air beds, go to Habitat Furnishings.

Great Reasons an Air Mattress is a Great Buy

Filed under: Air Bed, Air Mattress — angefantasyfit @ 5:27 pm

This blog is an example of what most people think about when they think of an air bed — a portable bed that you can take camping or pull out of a closet when you have guests.  Many people don’t know that air beds are actually one of the fastest growing segments of the specialty bed market.  More and more people are choosing air beds for their primary bed.

Why are more and more people choosing an air bed for their primary bed?  People choose air beds because they are adjustable and can be custom set from soft to firm as your needs or desires change (great for sleeping partners with different comfort needs).  An air mattress has flotation and buoyancy qualities that people love and they have a supportive feel without the “bottoming out” problems you find in a traditional mattress.  Bottom line:  Air beds offer comfort and qualities that a traditional mattress can’t match.  You can learn more about air beds by going to Habitat Furnishings.

Top Secret Air Bed Under Development In Our Lab

Filed under: Air Bed — marc @ 6:08 pm

We admit it, our sleep lab and showroom always looks like a mad scientist’s underground lair. We’ve got hundreds of pieces of foam, quilted materials, dozens of pumps, hoses, and more remote controls than a teenager’s media room. We invent and re-invent dozens of configurations every month, and we even enlist customers who already have our Air Beds to try out new variations on their beds. And for that, they get a little bit of press from us, and some pillows! One of our customer recently asked us,”Can you guys build an Air Bed that automatically adjusts..without having to use a remote?” We replied, more or less, “Are you kidding?” You have to have a remote…how could you “drive the bed” without one? Well, as usual, we scratched our chins, and started sketching. This was six months ago, and I am ASTONISHED to tell you that we actually have a working production model of our top secret Aeroform Resistance Response Air Bed System in development. Highly classified, we can only tell you that we’re not likely to have a robust model in our online store for about 3 months, but it is truly a marvel of sleep engineering and so simplistic, and so cost effectively designed, that the pricepoint will be…well, we can’t tell you more..What we can tell you is that the Aeroform Air Bed System will respond instantly to body movements using resistance technology, with no pump system, and no remote controls. We realize that many Arise and Ascend Bed customers, who wouldn’t give up their remotes if you tried to pry them off their sleeping bodies, will consider this apalling, but many folks want an Air Bed, but want it to be an “autopilot” kind of bed…and that’s what we’re doing. At Habitat, we’re always thinking..tinkering, and scratching our chins…and we think we’re on to something extraordinarily comfortable, built using the same high quality control standards and with the same unbeatable factory warranty and trial period that we use in every bed we engineer. More to come! Send your emails if this intrigues you..to habitatsales@aol.com

Using The Remote Controls On Our Air Bed Systems

Filed under: Air Bed — marc @ 8:54 am

Our Ascend and Arise Air Bed systems both offer a state of the art, hard wired digital readout remote, along with our medical grade pump unit, built by American National Manufacturing, an established bedding company which has designed and built intensive care unit beds, burn unit beds, and OSHA rated air bed systems for years. The remotes are easy to read, and operate. Many customers comment that they enjoy the large digital readout display, but have  a little trouble with programming the remotes with the memory setting…here’s a quick tutorial: First, when you get your bed assembled, fill the air chambers completely full, until the air pump stops filling. Don’t worry, you can’t bust an air chamber, since the pump has a limiting feature, or governor, which only allows the pump to fill to a pre-determined pressure, then stopping. Once you are lying quietly on the bed, hit the “soft” button on the remote, and allow air to escape until the bed reaches your desired level of comfort. Then, press and hold the memory button (there are 2 buttons, allowing for 2 different settings) for 10 seconds. This locks in that pressure setting as your memory setting..at any time, you can get back in bed and hit the memory button and the pump will atuomatically fill or empty to reach the pre-determined setting. It’s that easy!

Natural Latex Mattress Or Air Bed…Which One?

Filed under: Air Bed, Air Mattress, Natural Latex Mattresses — marc @ 11:13 am

If you’ve studied our beds deeply, you know that we use natural latex in one of our Air Bed models as well as well as in our 100% natural latex bed program. Many folks who come onto our site looking for natural latex mattresses, get onto our Air Bed page, and after much deliberation and several phone calls to our expert bedding sales staff, go with our Air Bed instead of Natural Latex…the most commonly asked question, in a nutshell? Why would I buy an Air Bed over a Natural Latex mattress?..or vicey versey, so to speak…First of all, Air Bed wise, many of you already have done the leading brand’s Sleep Number bed, didn’t like it, want a really good quality Air Bed system, and buy either our Arise or Ascend Air Bed System. You’re going to get major bang for your buck, and you’re getting a bed that is built from the ground up using individually sourced components, engineered to our ridiculously picky and annoying standards (we drive our manufacturers crazy, squeezing them to find the best components on the planet, but at the right price). So if you’re set on an Air Bed, the discussion is over there. What if you like the concept of an Air Bed, and it’s independent adjustability  with our dual remote control system, but you also like the all natural, eco-friendly, greener design and extreme comfort factor offered by one of our Natural Latex beds? Answer: Since we build in the natural latex layer into our Ascend model, you’re getting the wonderfully elastic, yet giving and yielding qualities of latex…but also with the tweakability factor to customize your bed with our air chamber system, but you may find the bed less bouncy and springy, or responsive, as our Natural latex, since the natural latex is immersed a bit deeper under the quilted top. You get “nestling in” qualities in our Air Beds, with the 2″ natural latex layer working in concert with other support foam layers including our memory foam layer in the Ascend model, but it provides more muted elasticity, so motion transfer is a bit more controlled, an important issue for some. Also, our Air Bed is made from some man-made, though quite sophisticated materials…so if all botanical product is an issue, you need to consider our Natural Latex program. With both of our Natural Latex mattress models, you are in close proximity with 100% pure latex rubber and the end result is a mattress that offers up a whole lot of effervescent personality. Our natural latex mattress also has more of a “drifting on calm waters” floating, buoyant feel, as one customer described it, but offers no way to change or adjust one side from the other. So…if there are two of you and one likes firm, and the other like plush and softer, go with our Air Bed. If there are two of you and you can share similar qualities in a mattress, but you insist on a more lively, bouncier, springier feel, without the pillowtop “nestle factor”, and you like the green, eco-friendly design, our Natural Latex mattress is totally up your alley. If you’re still confused, give us a call and we can sort of “diagnose” your specific needs. Remember, we offer 2 models in our Natural Latex program, our firmer 6″ model, and our slightly softer, cushier 8″ model.

Basic Model Air Bed In The Works: Our Arise® Air Bed

Filed under: Air Bed — marc @ 1:18 pm

Recently we launched our Habitat Ascend Air Bed System, which features a 2″ Natural Latex, and customers have loved the extraordinarily plush and cushier feel. We also incorporate the same 2″ layer of high quality memory foam in the Ascend model as well, to make sure the bed is highly functional at relieving pressure points as well as providing good weight distribution. Since it is a little higher price wise than our previous models, we’ve received a lot of feedback from folks who wish we had a less expensive, more simplistically designed model that was within their grasp, perhaps in the $1400 range for a queen, versus the $1899 Queen Ascend pricepoint. Our original Habitat Air Bed offered a memory foam layer and a layer of convoluted high density foam, but didn’t have the natural latex layer (the layer that provides the “plusher” feel of the Ascend bed). We are currently developing a more basic model, called the Arise Air Bed System, that will be in the $1400-1500 price range in a queen, with the same basic “chassis” that we use in our Ascend bed, our fabric backed vulcanized rubber air chambers, hardwired digital remote system, premium side rail design, our wonderful Hollofil quilted top which will not pack down over long term use, and our high quality memory foam layer. It will also include a softer High Density foam layer to offer some “cush” factor to the bed, without the higher cost of our natural latex layer. Look for this more conservatively priced bed to appear on our website around April 1 or so. We’re excited about offering a more diverse line of Air Beds on our site so that we can meet the needs of our highly discerning customer base. But building a great Air Bed takes a lot of chin scratching and research! Look for our Habitat Arise Air Bed to appear soon, with  great in depth videos to help you visualize our latest innovation.

Strong Interest Builds In Our Ascend® Air Bed

Filed under: Air Bed — marc @ 8:16 am

Thanks to our many customers who have called and emailed us about our brand new Ascend Air Bed System, which we’re almost ready to present on our Air Bed page. It’s amazing to us how electric the response to this product has been. We’re so excited about it, that we can’t wait to begin shipping! Many people have asked about the cost, and, after days sharpening our pencils, we can tell you that the special introductory price will be $1899 for the Queen system, and $2299 for a King system. This will include the complete Ascend Air Bed System, with pump and digital remotes, free shipping, no sales tax (if you don’t live in Louisiana), and our free mattress protector, as always. It’s astonishing that this bed will be almost half the cost of the leading brand’s top of the line bed, which contains NO natural latex, the magic ingredient which will provide the “wow factor” you’ll get when you lie on this mattress. Keep a close eye on our site, as we are in the final stages with our Ascend videos and expect to have them on the site soon. We are gearing up in our assembly and shipping facility, and we just received our shipment of Natural Latex material to incorporate into our new model. Thanks for the interest!

Our New Habitat Ascend® Air Bed System

Filed under: Air Bed — marc @ 8:09 am

Always advancing and improving our products has been one of our mission statements since we started in specialty bedding in 1994. Our customers have provided a tremendous amount of input into the enhancement of our beds, and since most of them have had a lot of experience with bedding that just is not comfortable, we learned to listen early on. Our Habitat Air Bed System has been a phenomenal success, as has our Natural Latex Mattress program, and with many of our customers becoming much more focused on the amazing comfort qualities of Natural Latex, people began asking….”Why don’t you have a latex layer in your Air Bed?”. Because our latex mattress program has been such a stratospheric success, we took that advice to heart. For the last 2 months, we have been developing our Brand New, Habitat Ascend Air Bed System. The only fundamental difference between our current Habitat Air Bed and the Ascend Air Bed is the addition of a 2″ layer of natural latex material, right below our 2″ layer of visco-elastic memory foam. We were astonished at what an incredible difference just a 2″ layer of latex could make in the comfort and appeal of the bed. Creating a wonderfully responsive, even more “cushier”, livelier, and more buoyant, supportive sensation was what were hoping would happen, but there is something more mysterious about how amazingly comfortable the Ascend Air Bed truly is. I feel as if I am floating, with even more effective pressure point reduction. I feel like I weigh less, which is a weird sensation at first, but believe me, you get used to it fast. We expect to have the Ascend Air Bed System in our online store by March 15, and anticipate rave reviews from our highly discerning customers! Get ready, it’s like having a Spa in your bedroom!!

Our Air Bed Has Taken Flight…And So Can You

Filed under: Air Bed — marc @ 1:08 pm

When we introduced our Habitat Air Bed System, we thought we had designed the ultimate floatation bed, a bed that was a distillation of our 15 years of collective experience about all of the ingredients that went into the bed. We wanted to build an Air Bed better than even the leading brand, and we didn’t want to skimp on any of the materials. At first, we thought it would end up being way out of whack price wise, but after 2 years of chin scratching and field testing out ourselves and with our pretty picky “bed testers”, we were amazed at what we had created. What we finally produced was an astonishingly comfortable air bed system, with the best materials built in to the mattress, everything from the vulcanized fabric backed rubber air bladders, to a great piece of memory foam, a solidly built pump, and more. Best of all, it was FAR less expensive to produce than we thought, and we ended up being able to offer it up at a fair price, much less than the comparable leading brand model, and even less than their middle of the road model. But what is it about the bed that makes it unique? Why would you buy one?

Without question, the adjustability feature is the single most common reason folks look hard at our bed, beyond the price issue. The range of support, from soft to firm, and with the weight distribution and pressure point qualities of our memory foam (we use a 3.5 lb density vs. a cheaper grade like the leading brand uses), to the ergonomically friendly hard wired remotes, all add up to great value, and a well thought out bed. You can try it our too, for 180 days, risk free, that’s how sure we are you’ll love it. Read the reviews on our Air Bed page and get some real third party, uninfluenced opinions about what people think about our Air Bed. We have sold hundreds of Air Beds, and we have built a solid customer base that refer friends and relatives  to our site, after trying out beds in their own homes. It’s almost like a little “grassroots” movement that has taken on a life of its own, and we’re really proud of that.
